EDUCATIONAL SCHOOL GROUP TOURS
The Historical Society of Avon Park and the Depot Museum strive to educate and inform the community on the significance of the early years of Avon Park as it relates to the land, pioneers and early families, and structures of historical interest.
We are especially interested in exposing the younger generation to this history and feel there is no better way than to have them take advantage of what the Depot Museum can offer. We feel certain that, after a guided tour of the Depot Museum, young people will gain a greater respect for history, local and otherwise, and hopefully will acquire a lifelong interest in all things historical.
Even though the regular museum schedule is Wednesday through Saturday from 10 to 3:00 pm, tours can be arranged outside those hours by appointment. To accommodate large groups (more than 30) we partner with the public library and the Peter Powell Roberts Museum to create an all-day field trip schedule. A student lunch is available on Silver Palm Dining Car for $3 by reservation.
